WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

ARTIST STATEMENT

Artistically across cultures, the human figure embodies the depths of emotion and the enigma of the human experience. Striving to surpass the mundane while maintaining a connection to the tangible, my artistic vision appears in recognizable yet subtly altered subjects— moreso figures. To exaggerate one's features amplifies their individuality, this can be displayed in how I render hair and eyes, sometimes even incorporating chimeric features to push it further.

Parallel to the alteration of characteristics, lies my distinctive use of color. A rich and striking language, color is used in my art not only as a visual element, but as the main integrant that captivates. I attempt to create a palette of colors that expands upon the personality of the subject's actual hues, forming a likeness. Whether utilizing the muted grayscales or the vibrancy of neon, I add complementary colors as subtle details for a contrasting visual effect. The final product is a representative piece, yet not quite realistic or idealistic.

I find myself yet to be bound to a singular medium or technique; instead, I embrace the diversity of mediums and knowledge available, allowing them (famous artists, various mediums, stylization, art movements) to naturally evolve my style. Once I compose a sketch for a new piece, it is then that I decide what medium is best suited for its style, often adding smaller elements of other mediums to elevate, making a large portion of my portfolio "mixed media".
